About Us

Established in response to the 2011 suspension of sand mining on North Stradbroke Island, the Straddie Chamber of Commerce supports local businesses in transitioning to a sustainable visitor economy. Our mission is to represent, advocate for, and empower the diverse business community that calls North Stradbroke Island home.

As a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation, we welcome businesses from all sectors contributing to or operating on the island, including trades, services, resources, transport, accommodation providers (including rental property owners), hospitality, attractions, and tours.

Vision

Our vision is for North Stradbroke Island / Minjerribah / Straddie to be one of Australia’s most desirable lifestyle and tourism destinations, balancing business growth with sustainability and cultural respect.

Mission

We advocate for business interests, drive economic development, and elevate the island’s brand to ensure a thriving and resilient business environment for generations to come.

Focus Areas

We focus on three key areas to achieve our mission:

  • Collaboration
    • Represent local business interests to influence government and stakeholders, shaping policies that support the island’s economy.
    • Foster connections among business owners to encourage peer support, innovation, and collective action.
  • Coordination
    • Leverage resources and partnerships to grow the island’s visitor economy and position it as a distinctive travel destination.
    • Actively support initiatives that enhance the island’s appeal as both a premier tourist spot and a vibrant business hub.
  • Empowerment
    • Provide members with resources, training, and mentorship to help them achieve sustainable growth and success.
